We have provided this help system as a means to answer the most common questions encountered when using the directory. Please always refer to this section before requesting assistance via email. Every page of the Fortis House directory contains the search facility. On pages inside our site, the search boxes can be located at the top of the screen:
- Tips on Searching
We have tried to make searching the directory as simple as possible, but if you are having difficulty in finding what you need, you may find the following suggestions useful: If you are searching for a particular business name, check your spelling of the name, and if you have specified a location or business type, remove these terms from your search. This has the effect of broadening your search so that, although there may be more results, the one you are looking for has a greater chance of being returned. If you are looking for a particular type of business, you may find that by removing some of your search terms, a greater number of related categories may be returned. There is, of course, always the possibility that the business you are searching for does not have an advertisement listed under our directory.
- Browsing the directory
Fortis House also incorporates a browse facility that enables you to navigate through the directory by moving through our hierarchy of categories. To begin browsing the directory, click on the Browse link above the search button at the top of the screen. This will open the first page of main categories in your browser. To move through the categories, simply click on the relevant category. This will open the next level of categories, and repeat the process. Bold categories contain other sub-categories, and may be navigated through in the manner explained above. Categories not displayed in bold do not contain other sub-categories, and clicking on them will display a list of all of the advertisements contained in that category.
